Masjid

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 19 July 2026

This policy describes what the Masjid Android app collects, why, and what happens to it. We built the app around data minimization: no advertising, no analytics or tracking SDKs, and no sale or sharing of personal data with third parties for marketing.

1. What we collect and why

DataWho provides itWhy we need it
Name and mobile number Residents and caretakers at sign-up Your account identity and login. Resident identities are never shown publicly.
Password Residents and caretakers Securing your account. Stored only as a salted hash by our infrastructure provider; we never see it.
Masjid details: name, location pin, address, caretaker name and phone, bank/wallet account details, staff names, roles, contact numbers and their account details, expenses, salaries, savings, fundraising projects Caretakers This is the product: caretakers choose to publish this information so residents can see it and donate directly. It is public to signed-in users of the app once the masjid is approved.
Donation records: amount, purpose, and an optional screenshot of your bank transfer Donors, voluntarily So the caretaker can confirm your donation was received and it can count toward the masjid's public totals. Records and screenshots are visible only to you, that masjid's caretaker, and our review team — never to the public. Public pages show only aggregate totals, never donor names.
Approximate device location Only if you tap "use my location" and grant permission Centring the map and showing distances. Used on your device only; we do not store your location on our servers. The app works fully if you decline.
Reports you file about a masjid Any signed-in user Reviewing abuse, fraud and safety concerns.

We do not collect: your contacts, your photos other than a screenshot you deliberately attach, background location, advertising identifiers, or usage analytics.

2. Payments

The app never collects, holds, or transfers money. Donations happen outside the app, directly between your bank/wallet and the account you choose. We are a directory and transparency tool only.

3. Where your data lives

Data is stored with Supabase (our backend provider) on infrastructure in the ap-south-1 (Mumbai) region, protected by row-level access controls: each piece of data is readable only by the people listed in the table above. Transfer screenshots are kept in private storage and served only through short-lived signed links.

4. Who can see what

5. Retention and deletion

Your data is kept while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time — in the app under Settings → Delete account, or on the web at delete-account.html. Deletion is immediate and permanent: your profile, saved masjids, pending donation records, and screenshots are erased. For caretakers, the masjid's page and all its published information are erased too. Already-confirmed donation amounts remain in a masjid's public totals as anonymous figures with your name and screenshot removed.

6. Children

The app is intended for adults and is not directed at children. See our Child Safety Standards for how to report concerns and how we respond.

7. Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this URL with an updated date, and material changes will be announced in the app.
